Embroidered dress Velina

Dress that follows the cut of a traditional Ukrainian shirt, inheriting its length, volume, and wide sleeves gathered at the collar.

The fabric is soft to the touch yet holds the shape well due to its dense weave. The neckline slit is fastened with ties complemented by metal beads.

The pattern on the sleeves is inspired by ornamental samples collected by Hanna Hrabovska, a Ukrainian embroidery artist. It is made with light grey threads, a shade that was historically obtained from alder bark.
