Christmas ball Prymachenko "Layabout"

Almost a hundred years ago, there lived a girl who loved to dream and fantasize. Her name was Maria. Once Maria was herding geese in the fields and saw a strange bird, looked at it, and the bird shed feathers from its wings as if giving a sign. At the place where the feathers fell, colorful uneven stripes could be seen from under the riverbank. Maria noticed them and, approaching the shore, began to dig. It was blue clay. She gathered it, brought it home, and painted her house with it. Everyone liked the blue flowers. A little boy from the neighborhood even cried and didn't want to leave the house until someone gave him a blue flower because it was so bright, almost alive. That's how Maria started to paint.

But above all, Maria was interested in observing ordinary everyday life and taking plots or, as she called them, drawings, from real personalities.

"The layabout lay down under an apple tree so that the apple fell into his mouth, and it fell into his forehead," – we can only guess who this idler was, perhaps a neighbor who dreamed of an easy, carefree life. Everyone can fantasize and remember at least one such character of their time.
